I am half American and Saudi. My dad is from Dahran, SA and my mother is from Valparaiso, IN. I was born in Evansville, IN but was raised in Saudi Arabia for 15 years. I attended an all Private girls school and accepted all the laws and regulations. Yes, it is very hard to accept most of the rules because it's not fair for women to have less rights. I don't believe that forbidding women to not drive is right! I certainly don't believe that women can't express their true feelings out loud because we are humans and want to express ourselves. The question is, how can you express yourself and talk about personal matters when it cant' change? It's been rough for me to have my own father accept the decisions that I've made for myself and for my happiness, but I fought for it. It was a huge burden on my mother to stand by my side and talk to my dad about my choices. I hate hearing the same line from my dad, "I'm am a Saudi and it's against my culture and Religion". Years later, I became and adult and my dad knew that I was going to make my own choices in life and will do the complete opposite of what he tells me. I am an American, I've lived in the States for almost 11 years now, I am dating an amazing man who comes from a great family, we want to move in together, establish our careers, get married and start a family one day. That's what every girl wants is to be with a great man who care's about you. Not an arranged marriage and you hardly know the guy and are pressured to marry the man because he carry's a good name and has money. Anyways, I can go on forever, but being half American and Saudi, is hard; especially being a female but you have to do what makes you happy not what the standards are. No one is perfect or holy. Do what you believe is right! Sumer A
