Expats in the Hague and especially those newly-arrived, are set to enjoy the city’s Feel at Home Community Fair set to take place Sunday February 2.
The event is a celebration of the cosmopolitan community of expats and Dutch nationals, and will give a warm welcome to all newcomers as well as being a place where international expatriates can meet their friends and have a good time. This year’s event is the 13th since the inception of the fair, and is intended to showcase all the city’s positivities as regards living and working in the popular expat location.
Special features this year will centre on the city’s exciting opportunities as regards learning, training and finding the right job in the region. Exhibitors will include international employers, innovative startups and a wide selection of the diverse range of careers and internships open to expat incomers. Presentations aimed at students, local people and job seekers can be seen on topics as wide as the future of education, careers in UN organisations and cross-border criminal justice.
The fair is as much about community as it is the jobs market, with its sports section, social and community groups and cultural showcases and activities of interest to all. Several English language theatre groups will be looking for new members, and swimming, tennis and badminton clubs can give expats the information and support they need to get and stay fit. Expats keen to volunteer will have a huge choice in their neighbourhood, and can discover how the giving of time and knowledge can develop new skills. All in all, the Fair is a microcosm of the macrocosm that’s the Hague, and showcases everything expats need to know to make their relocation a success.
