As reported by Emirate 24/7, the UK Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates has called the UAE an excellent place to live and have a family, while hailing the nation’s pro-active method in cracking down on online predators which could harm innocent children.
Dominic Jermey OBE recently gave an interview with 999 Magazine, where he touched on some of the big issues affecting expats in the UAE. He urged tourists and expatriates to understand the dress codes in the conservative nation, and warned parents to be more watchful and protect their children from the potential harm posed by the internet.
Mr Jermey stated that the vast majority of expatriates living in the UAE dress appropriately, while most Britons who live there or visit get it entirely right. However, the few who get it a bit wrong tend to experience very serious sunburn.
It is extremely important for expatriates and tourists to know the norms of the local society in which they are, said Jermey. This is why the embassies in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are working very closely with the airlines, local schools and tour operators to run a world-wide campaign titled ‘Know Before You Go.’
