Acting in the spirit of Christmas, an expat photographer working in Dubai is raising money for an animal welfare charity by photographing pets and their owners who attend a local veterinary clinic.
Iranian expat Massih Shahbazi organised his first, free, Christmas photo call last year at the Lucky Veterinary Clinic for customers of the clinic and their pets. It was such a huge success he decided to repeat it this year and charge a token amount in order to help Animal Action, a local animal welfare charity. In 2015 he took around 200 pictures of 90 pets, and this year he’s determined to break his record in order to make more money for the charity.
Pets photographed by Massih at the clinic last year included a pet spider, a lizard and several geckos as well as dozens of dogs and cats, and this year every pet is being set against a background of seasonal decorations and a glittering Christmas tree. Pets are being provided with seasonal costumes including a Santa dress and reindeer hat, and customers get a high quality pic of their best friends as well as a Christmas goodie bag with treats and pet foods and the knowledge that they’re helping a good cause.
One client, owner of a much-loved Golden Retriever, told NewsXpress she was thrilled with the beautiful photo of her dear dog. She added the photoshoot was an amazing idea as she’s always wanted a formal photo of herself and her pet, but wasn’t sure how to go about this. She added she was more than happy to contribute to a local animal welfare charity, and truly appreciates the efforts Massih has made on its behalf.
Co-founder of Animal Action Natalie Stone told reporters she believed most pet owners weren’t able to have formal photos of themselves with their pets as they were unsure of the practicalities of finding a suitable photo studio which accepts dogs, cats and other pets as subjects. She’s very grateful for Massih’s initiative, as it’s not only contributed to the charity but has gifted owners with perfect pictures of their beloved pets.
