Around 20,000 expat students are currently studying in universities across Iran, according to a Science Ministry official.
The latest data indicates that there are 19,800 students from abroad based in Iran’s universities, revealed Samad Haj-Jabbari, the director of general science, research and technology at the ministry’s Non-Iranian Students Department.
He revealed that roughly 11,000 of the foreign students were admitted to Iran’s universities after passing the national entrance exam, while more than 3,100 of them were paying for their education. He added that most of the students came from nearby nations.
The policy of the Science Ministry is to admit a higher number of foreign students as revenues raise in order to show Iran’s capabilities.
