As reported by MENA, Middle East-based expatriates are being urged to encourage their friends and relatives to not miss out on what is expected to be a very exciting year for Great Britain.
As the Olympic Games, which will take place 27 July - 12 August, and the Paralympic Games, scheduled for 29 August - 9 September, loom closer, the nation is consolidating its new position as one of the globe’ most attractive destinations.
Recently, the UK overtook France in the yearly National Brands Index, becoming the third most admired nation on earth, enjoying high acclaim for its eclectic music, art, films, literature and sport.
Carol Maddison, UAE Manager at VisitBritain, said 2012 would be a big year for the UK, which is why expats in the Middle East are being encouraged to participate in all the festivities, from the London Olympic Games to the Diamond Jubilee.
The UK’s reputation as a tourist attraction has never been better, mainly due to the positive reviews from worldwide travellers who have experienced Great Britain’s unique heritage and limitless entertainment opportunities, said Maddison. Now is the time for Brits to be proud of their country, open up doors and share their culture, she added.
The UK is expected to attract 30.7 million foreign visitors in 2012 who are likely to spend 17.6 billion pounds in-country.
