As reported by IFA Online, Hong Kong’s booming economy is attracting increasing numbers of UK expats who are passing up on more traditional destinations, reports international financial expert Guardian Wealth Management (GWM).
A flourishing economy, Hong Kong also offers a vibrant culture, as well as a low tax regime, which makes it an attractive destination for UK expats, says David Howell (GWM Chief Executive), who calls it the “jewel of the Asian crown."
GWM, which recently launched an office in Hong Kong, announced it plans to expand with new operations further across Asia, particularly in Singapore, Malaysia and mainland China. As Western markets continue struggling under the economic crisis, Asia’s growth has been soaring, which is undeniably thrilling for British expats, said Howell.
GWM, as well as other financial firms establishing new bases in Asia, have found recent expatriate financial surveys quite encouraging. The Quality of Life Index by NatWest International Personal Banking reports that financial prospects and higher salaries are contributing to an 18% rise in the number of expatriates working in Singapore and China.
The bank says that expats in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and the UAE say their financial situation has ‘improved dramatically’ ever since moving to the country.
