A media group on the Costa del Sol is being sued by one of Andalucia’s largest printing firms over non-payments of bills.
Former Sunsearch Media boss Stan Israel is to appear in court over failing to pay bills totalling €8,000 and dating back to 2013.
Seville company Tecnographic printed Perfect Homes, which was among a number of luxury magazines produced by Sunsearch Media.
Fifty-three-year-old Israel launched his new firm, Simply Media Group, in 2014 and now reportedly boasts clients including Bulgari, Lady Gaga’s perfume and Louis Vuitton.
Questioned on the court appearance, Israel initially insisted he no longer had any links with Sunsearch after selling it last year to a buyer who ultimately failed to pay him; however, he later confessed to still being a shareholder.
A spokesman for Tecnographic said that the company won its initial judgment against the former Sunsearch owner, but admitted that the problem they faced was he had no assets remaining in Spain. He added that their lawyers were doing everything in their power to make him pay his dues.
Israel, who resides on Estepona, denied the non-payment of bills and claimed he had no idea who Tecnographic was. He said that if the printing was not done correctly, his company did not get paid and, therefore, the printers didn’t either.
