Hollywood actress Neve Campbell will star in four episodes of Greg Poehler’s Welcome to Sweden, a comedy about expats living in Sweden.
The actress will play Diane, an American who has been sent to the Scandinavian country’s capital, Stockholm, to take up a marketing management role at a bank.
Poehler described the news that Campbell, who shot to stardom after appearing in the 1990s hit thriller Scream, would appear in the show as “great”, saying that she had seen the script and was impressed by it.
The actor cum director, who has lived in Sweden for eight years, bases the show on his own life and how he found the transition after crossing the Atlantic. Among the well-known stars to have made cameos in the show are his sister and co-producer Amy Poehler, Aubrey Plaza, Will Ferrell and Swedes Lena Olin and Malin Akerman.
The plot follows former New York accountant Bruce (played by Poehler) and his wife, Emma, in their new life in Stockholm. However, in contrast to the first season which was set in the summer months, the second edition is based on the more chilly climes and snowy conditions associated with the country’s winter.
Poehler noted that the first season was all about the fun to be had in the archipelagos outside Stockholm, while the second deals with the much harsher winter season, which goes on “so long it feels like two winters”.
